    Everything Motion 5

    June 22, 2011 by Patrick

Motion Specialist Mark Spencer wrote an in depth look into the best new features of Motion 5 for the Pro Video Coalition. He focuses on five new features: the new interface, FCPX integration, publishing, rigging and the price. All of these completely change the game on how Motion and FCP work with each other. Three of the features he highlights deal directly with integration and it really has been completely redone for the better. We’ve been having a lot of fun with the new motion set up. It’s really quite intuitive.

Check out the whole article over at Pro Video Coalition.

Canon Annouces Update for EOS plugin for FCP

    April 11, 2011 by Patrick

Canon is releasing a new update for their EOS to ProRes 422 conversion plug-in for Final Cut Pro. This new version (1.2) converts footage twice as fast as FCP’s converter and allows you to convert footage from any folder. The update will be available for free on April 25th.

Thanks to Wet Pixel for the heads up.

    Isolating Colors with Apple Color

    February 21, 2011 by Patrick

GeniusDV posted a nice tutorial on how to use Apple Color to isolate certain colors for grading. This is a great solution for situations when colors and areas need fixing, but the majority of the frame is fine.

    Anti-Moire Plug in

    February 17, 2011 by Patrick

I caught this over at Philip Bloom and found it pretty interesting. Jorgen Escher created an FCP plug in that deals with moire problems that seem to run so rampant (especially in hair as you can see above.) It won’t help with huge areas of moire but its seems to do the job for small specific areas.

Check it out for free (although you should drop a donation) over at Jorgen Escher’s website.

    Cutting Objects with Photoshop

    January 14, 2011 by Patrick

There must be some strange mind meld going on today. Just as I was searching for a tutorial on an easy way to cut out objects in Photoshop to use in a video we’re working on, I stumble across GeniusDV‘s latest post on that very subject. It is extremely useful. We’ve been working on cutting things for the last few days, so again, I’m blown away by the timeliness.
