Canon Annouces Update for EOS plugin for FCP
Canon is releasing a new update for their EOS to ProRes 422 conversion plug-in for Final Cut Pro. This new version (1.2) converts footage twice as fast as FCP’s converter and allows you to convert footage from any folder. The update will be available for free on April 25th.
Thanks to Wet Pixel for the heads up.
Isolating Colors with Apple Color
GeniusDV posted a nice tutorial on how to use Apple Color to isolate certain colors for grading. This is a great solution for situations when colors and areas need fixing, but the majority of the frame is fine.
Anti-Moire Plug in
I caught this over at Philip Bloom and found it pretty interesting. Jorgen Escher created an FCP plug in that deals with moire problems that seem to run so rampant (especially in hair as you can see above.) It won’t help with huge areas of moire but its seems to do the job for small specific areas.
Check it out for free (although you should drop a donation) over at Jorgen Escher’s website.
Cutting Objects with Photoshop
There must be some strange mind meld going on today. Just as I was searching for a tutorial on an easy way to cut out objects in Photoshop to use in a video we’re working on, I stumble across GeniusDV‘s latest post on that very subject. It is extremely useful. We’ve been working on cutting things for the last few days, so again, I’m blown away by the timeliness.

Video Text Titles
Genius DV put together another wonderful Final Cut tutorial. This one covers how to create moving video text titles. It’s a cool effect that can be put together fairly quick.
